Voila Ici Out To Break Aussie Maiden In 2013 Ipswich Cup

June 14th, 2013

Peter Moody is confident that 2013 Ipswich Cup favourite Voila Ici can overcome his wide barrier and top weight to win tomorrow’s $200,000 race.

The trainer feels the rain-affected track will aid Voila Ici’s chances and make the barrier draw less of a negative.

The eight-year-old has drawn gate 19 for the 2013 Ipswich Cup and will carry a massive 60 kilograms.

“He has an ugly draw and a big weight but hopefully we have soft ground again which may negate the draw,” Moody said.

Voila Ici will be looking to better his last start third placing behind Quintessential in the Group 2 Eagle Farm Cup when he runs in tomorrow’s 2013 Ipswich Cup.

“The weight suggests he is the class horse in the race,” Moody said.

“His last run has brought him on.

“That was his first run beyond a mile and he is at his right distance now.”

Voila Ici will be ridden by jockey Glen Colless, who possesses an abundance of experience at Ipswich Racecourse.

“He rides at Ipswich regularly and that experience, and the experience now on this bloke, should be a bonus,” Moody said.

“I don’t think it is necessary to lead but he races on the speed anyway and makes his own luck.”

The Daylami entire will be looking to post his first win since arriving in Australia last spring when he runs in the 2013 Ipswich Cup.
